When you move house, you sort through things, deciding what you’re going to keep and what has outlived its usefulness. Why wouldn’t you consider eliminating some emotional baggage as you get ready to marry your beloved?
Plan ahead and get rid of some of the roadblocks as you prepare for your wedding day and marriage. We spend a lot of time thinking what we’ll acquire as we move forward. Spend just a little time thinking what might weigh us down on the journey and get rid of it.
Figure out what your strengths are. As much as possible you want to build to your strengths.
Recognize the places that are really just differences in who you are. If they’re just differences and the differences are what make you interesting to one another, then you may have a way to pursue resolution to issues that isn’t the old “I’m right and you’re wrong” argument.
Seek out models for relationship that may offer you clues to creative solutions.
Keep accentuating the positive. All the new data says that focusing on problems just makes them the only thing you can see.
Build some skills. Take a course or find a counselor to work with.
Build your dedication eliminating problems before they arrive and resolving them as they arrive right into your wedding vows. Keeping these problems will create a marriage that you will be happy to live in. (It will also create a wedding ceremony that will inspire people to do more and better in their lives.)
Treat your relationship with respect and it will grow into the marriage you want. Think of all the planning you’re willing to do to create a wonderful wedding. You’ll even carve out the time to take dance lessons (and you’ll never be sorry!). Why not spend some time on marriage lessons and then dance your lives away in one another’s arms, adjusting to life’s swells and dips as they come along. Get rid of the yucky stuff. You’ll be glad you did.
Bottom Line?: Give your relationship the chance it deserves to succeed wildly, against all odds! After all, you deserve it. Your relationship deserves it!
